Sean Biggerstaff was born on March 15, 1983, and is an actor from Scotland. Many people know him for his role as Oliver Wood in the famous Harry Potter movies. He appeared in Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone (2001), Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002), and had a brief return in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 (2011).

Sean started acting when he was very young, at just five years old. His first TV appearance was in a show called The Crow Road in 1996. He even won a special award, a BAFTA Scotland Award, for his acting in the TV film Consenting Adults (2007). He also acted in movies like Cashback (2006) and Mary Queen of Scots (2013).

Early Life and First Steps in Acting

Sean Biggerstaff was born in Glasgow, Scotland, on March 15, 1983. He grew up in an area called Maryhill with his parents. He went to Parkview Primary School in Summerston. When he was seven, he joined a local acting group called the Maryhill Youth Theatre. This was where his journey into acting began!

Sean's Acting Journey

Sean got his first professional acting job when he was ten. He played the son of MacDuff in a play called Macbeth at the Tron Theatre in Glasgow. After that, he joined the Scottish Youth Theatre and stayed with them for six years, learning a lot about acting.

First Big Roles

In 1996, when Sean was 13, he got his first major TV role. He played Young Darren in the BBC show The Crow Road. A year later, at 14, he was chosen by actor Alan Rickman for his new movie, The Winter Guest. Sean played Tom, a playful schoolboy. Sean later shared that Alan Rickman, who many kids knew as "the bad guy from Die Hard", picked him and another boy to film in a cold place called Fife.

Joining the Wizarding World

Alan Rickman was so impressed with Sean that he suggested him to a big acting agency in London. Soon after, auditions for the Harry Potter movies were happening. During his audition, the directors thought Sean would be perfect for the role of Oliver Wood. Oliver Wood is the captain and keeper of the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Sean played this role in the first two Harry Potter films. He also made a short appearance in the final movie, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2.

Other Notable Roles

After his time in the first two Harry Potter films, Sean continued to act in many different projects. In 2004, he played Henry, Duke of Gloucester in a TV mini-series called Charles II: The Power and The Passion. He also acted in a stage play called The Girl With Red Hair.

Sean played Ben Willis in a short film called Cashback. This short film was so popular that more scenes were added, and it became a full-length movie in 2006. In 2007, Sean played Jeremy Wolfenden in the BBC 4 TV film Consenting Adults. This role was a big success for him, and he won the BAFTA Scotland Award for Best Actor – Television. He also appeared in the film Whisky Galore! in 2016.

In 2016, Sean took on the main role in a play called Right Now. This play was very popular and received good reviews in cities like Bath, London, and Edinburgh. In 2017, it was announced that he would be part of an audio series called Jenny: The Doctor's Daughter, where he plays a character named Noah.
