Sean P. R. Brown, born on November 5, 1976, is a Canadian former professional ice hockey player. He was a defenceman, which means his main job on the ice was to protect his team's goal. Sean Brown played for several teams in the National Hockey League (NHL), which is the top ice hockey league in North America.
Sean Brown's Hockey Journey
Sean Brown started his professional hockey journey after being picked by the Boston Bruins in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. He was chosen 21st overall, which is a great achievement for a young player. Before joining the NHL, he played very well in a junior league called the Ontario Hockey League (OHL) for teams like the Belleville Bulls and the Sarnia Sting.
Playing in the NHL
Not long after being drafted, Sean Brown was traded to the Edmonton Oilers. He played for the Oilers for parts of six seasons, showing his skills as a strong defenceman. In March 2002, he returned to the Boston Bruins in another trade. He played one more season with the Bruins before signing with the New Jersey Devils.
Sean Brown also spent some time playing for the Devils' minor league team, the Albany River Rats, in the American Hockey League (AHL). In 2006, he was traded one last time in the NHL to the Vancouver Canucks. He played 12 games for the Canucks, which marked the end of his NHL career.
Playing in Europe
After his time in the NHL, Sean Brown moved to Europe to continue his hockey career. He signed with the DEG Metro Stars in Germany in July 2006. The next year, he joined another German team, the Nürnberg Ice Tigers. In March 2008, he moved to Austria to play for EC KAC in the Austrian Hockey League. He played several seasons there before ending his career in 2011.
