Sean Lester Rooks (born September 9, 1969 – died June 7, 2016) was an American professional basketball player. He played as a center in the National Basketball Association (NBA) from 1992 to 2004. After his playing career, he became a basketball coach. He was an Assistant for Player Development for the Philadelphia 76ers when he passed away.
Sean Rooks played college basketball for the Arizona Wildcats. He was recognized as an all-conference player in the Pac-10 (now Pac-12) during his senior year. He was born in New York City.
Playing Career
Sean Rooks had a long career playing basketball. He played for several teams in the NBA. These teams included the Dallas Mavericks, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Atlanta Hawks. He also played for the Los Angeles Lakers and Los Angeles Clippers. Later, he joined the New Orleans Hornets and the Orlando Magic.
He also played basketball outside of the NBA. In 2005, he played for teams in Spain. He retired from playing basketball in 2012.
Coaching Career
After he stopped playing, Sean Rooks became a basketball coach. He worked as an assistant coach for several teams. These included the Bakersfield Jam and the New Mexico Thunderbirds. He also coached for the Sioux Falls Skyforce.
Rooks also worked with NBA teams as an assistant coach. He was an assistant coach for the Phoenix Suns. Later, he joined the Philadelphia 76ers as an assistant coach. He was coaching the 76ers when he died.

Sean Rooks was born in New York City on September 9, 1969. He passed away on June 7, 2016, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He was 46 years old when he died from heart disease.
