Seaton is a small, unincorporated community located in Bell County, Texas, in the United States. An unincorporated community is a place that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town. Instead, it's usually governed by the county. In 2000, about 60 people lived in Seaton. It is part of the larger Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood metropolitan area, which is a region with several cities and towns close together.

History of Seaton

The story of Seaton began in 1881 when families from the Czech region of Europe came to settle in this area. These early settlers helped to build the community.

Early Days and Growth

By 1891, Seaton was growing. It had a store where people could buy supplies and a saloon. That year, the community asked to have its own post office. The name "Seaton" was chosen, but it wasn't named after any of the people who lived there.

In 1896, about 17 people lived in Seaton. The community also had a cotton gin, which was a machine used to separate cotton fibers from their seeds. This was important for farmers in the area.

Community Life and Changes

A Czech Brethren church was built in Seaton in 1906. This church became a central part of the community's life. However, the post office closed down in 1907.

Seaton's population grew to about 55 people by 1933, and there were three businesses operating. The community reached its largest size just before 1950, with about 80 residents. At that time, Seaton had a church, five businesses, and a community park for everyone to enjoy.

Decline and Present Day

Unfortunately, all the businesses in Seaton closed by the 1960s. The population slowly decreased over time. By the year 2000, the number of people living in Seaton had gone down to 60.

Where is Seaton Located?

Seaton is found in the eastern part of Bell County, Texas. You can find it where two roads, Farm-to-Market Road 53 and Farm-to-Market Road 2086, cross each other. It's about 8 miles (13 kilometers) east of a larger city called Temple.
