Sega Technical Institute (STI) was a special team at Sega that made video games. It was based in America. Mark Cerny started STI in 1991. The idea was to bring together talented game makers from Japan, like Yuji Naka from the Sonic Team, with new American developers. This mix helped them create amazing games.
STI made many popular Sonic the Hedgehog games. They also created other fun games for the Sega Genesis console. The team worked until late 1996. Many games made by STI are important in the history of the Genesis. A lot of these games were very popular or sold many copies. People who worked at STI remember it as a unique and special place to create games.
