Seskarö (in Meänkieli: Seittenkaari) is a small community in Sweden. It is located in Haparanda Municipality, which is part of Norrbotten County. In 2010, about 491 people lived there.
Seskarö is special because it is on an island. This island has the same name, Seskarö. It is about 20 square kilometers in size. The island is part of the beautiful Haparanda Archipelago, a group of islands.
Connecting Seskarö to the Mainland
For a long time, Seskarö was only reachable by boat. This changed in 1978. A bridge was built to connect the island to the mainland. This bridge goes over a few smaller islands along the way. It makes it much easier for people to travel to and from Seskarö.
Where is Seskarö Located?
Seskarö is in the very north of Sweden. It is close to the border with Finland. The area is known for its stunning natural beauty. This includes many islands and a long coastline.
The Haparanda Archipelago
The Haparanda Archipelago is a group of islands in the Bothnian Bay. This bay is the northernmost part of the Baltic Sea. The archipelago has many islands, big and small. Seskarö is one of the larger islands in this area.
