Setcases is a small town and a municipality in Spain. It is located in the Pyrenees mountains. This area is part of the comarca of Ripollès in Girona, Catalonia. Setcases is also very close to the French border.
The name Setcases means "Seven Houses". The word set means "seven" and cases means "houses". The Ter River starts in the mountains just above Setcases. The current mayor of Setcases is Jaume Busquets i Bartolí.

History of Setcases
The name Setcases was first written down a very long time ago. This was in the year 965. It was found in old records about gifts. These gifts were made by Count Sunifred of Besalú. He was a count from Besalú, which was one of the Catalan counties. The gifts were given to the nearby monastery of Sant Pere de Camprodon.
The Old Church
Setcases has a church with a special Baroque altarpiece. An altarpiece is a work of art behind the altar in a church. This one is dedicated to Saint Michael. It is the only altarpiece of its kind in the whole Camprodon Valley. It was carefully protected during a difficult time in history.

Today, Setcases mostly relies on tourism for its economy. People visit the town all year round.

In the warmer months, many people enjoy hiking. A popular hiking route is the Ulldeter circuit. During the winter, skiing is a big attraction. There is a ski lift at Vallter 2000.
