Shamed Dogan, born on August 28, 1978, is an American politician. He was a member of the Republican Party. He served in the Missouri House of Representatives. This is where laws are made for the state of Missouri.

He represented the 98th District in St. Louis County. This district included parts of towns like Ballwin, Ellisville, Fenton, and Wildwood. Dogan was first elected to this role in November 2014. As of 2018, he was the only Black Republican serving in the Missouri state legislature.

Education and Learning

Shamed Dogan finished high school in 1996. He went to Mary Institute and St. Louis Country Day School. After that, he studied at Yale University. He earned his bachelor's degree in political science in 2000.

His Career in Politics

After college, Dogan moved to Washington, D.C. He started working for a group called the Black America's Political Action Committee. From 2001 to 2002, he worked for the National Republican Senatorial Committee. This group helps elect Republican senators.

Dogan then worked for three years as an assistant to U.S. Senator Jim Talent. In this role, he helped write new laws. He also gave advice on topics like transportation, immigration, and energy. In 2006, Dogan became a deputy director for the Missouri Republican Party.

Before serving in the state legislature, Dogan was an alderman. An alderman is a local leader who helps run a city. He served Ballwin's 2nd Ward from 2011 to 2014. He also worked to raise money for Washington University in St. Louis. In 2021, news reports said Dogan was interested in running for St. Louis County Executive. This is a top leadership role for the county.

During the 2016 Republican presidential primary, Dogan said he would vote for a different party's candidate. This was if Donald Trump became the Republican nominee. Trump did become the nominee. After an event at the U.S. Capitol in 2021, Dogan spoke out again. He said the Republican Party should return to its main ideas. He believed it should not be focused on one person.

Shamed Dogan lives in Ballwin, Missouri. He lives there with his wife, Sara, and their two children.

He is a board member for Epworth Children & Family Services. This group helps children and families. He has also been a board member for other groups. These include the Epilepsy Foundation of Missouri & Kansas, the St. Louis Area Young Republicans, and the West St. Louis County Jaycees.
