Shane Patrick Hughes (born June 7, 1996), known as Shane Eagle, is a rapper and songwriter from South Africa. He became famous in 2015. This happened after he placed fourth in a TV show called The Hustle. It was a rapping competition on Vuzu TV.
After the show, Shane Eagle released many songs. In 2017, he released his first album, Yellow. This album included the popular song "Let It Flow". In October 2019, he released his first mixtape, Dark Moon Flower. This mixtape featured other artists like Kota the Friend, Santi, Caleborate, Dreamville's Lute and Bas. It also featured the English band The Hics and South African rappers Nasty C and PatrickxxLee.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Shane Patrick Hughes was born on June 7, 1996. He was born in Rabie Ridge, a suburb of Johannesburg, South Africa. His mother is Coloured and his father is Irish. When he was five, his parents divorced. He then went to live with his father in Kempton Park, Johannesburg. He still visited his mother in Rabie Ridge often.
The name "Eagle" came from his friends in Rabie Ridge. He liked it and made it part of his stage name. Shane started rapping in high school. He recorded his first song when he was 13 years old. He used his friend's studio to record it.
Career Highlights
Becoming Famous: 2015-2016
After high school, Shane Eagle wanted to join The Hustle. This was a new rapping competition on Vuzu TV. Artists had to upload a video of themselves rapping to social media. Shane applied and was chosen to compete. He finished in fourth place.
After the show, Shane Eagle became well-known. He gained many fans. On October 8, 2015, he released his first song, "Way Up". It featured BigStar Johnson, who also competed on The Hustle. This song was released under JR's record label, Feel Good Music. Many South African radio stations played the song. These included YFM, 5FM, and Highveld 947.
In March 2016, Shane Eagle became a presenter on the TV show V Entertainment. Other presenters included Moozlie, DJ Speedsta, and Dash Mkhathini. They joined long-time presenter Lalla Hirayama. In early 2017, the show took a break. Shane left the show before it changed its format.
In 2016, Shane Eagle released more songs. These included "I'm Back", "Cutting Corners", and "Top Floor". He released them through his own record label, Eagle Entertainment. He started this label after leaving Feel Good Music. On June 18, 2016, Shane Eagle performed at the Castle Lite Unlocks concert. The main performer at this concert was rapper J Cole.
Yellow and Never Grow Up: 2017-Present
Shane Eagle's first album, Yellow, came out on August 31, 2017. Two songs, "Let It Flow" and "Need Me" (featuring KLY), were released with the album. By November 2017, the album had over one million streams on Apple Music.
"Let It Flow" became a very popular song. In September 2019, it was certified gold by the Recording Industry of South Africa. This means it sold a lot of copies. The Yellow album won Best Hip Hop Album at the 24th South African Music Awards. It was also nominated for Album of the Year. "Let It Flow" was nominated for Best Music Video. Shane Eagle was nominated for Newcomer of the Year.
On August 26, 2018, Shane Eagle started his first tour. It was called The Yellow Tour. He performed in four cities to support his album. The tour began in Cape Town on August 31, 2018.
Never Grow Up was Shane Eagle's first EP (a shorter album). It was released on December 28, 2018. This EP also earned a gold certification from the Recording Industry of South Africa. It reached this status at the same time as "Let It Flow".
In 2021, he released the song "Ammo" with YoungstaCPT. On August 13, 2021, he released "Skydream" featuring Redveil.
