Nasty C's Life and Music Journey
Early Life and First Songs (2006–2015)
Nsikayesizwe David Junior Ngcobo was born on 11 February 1997 in Diepkloof, Soweto, Johannesburg. When he was very young, his mother sadly passed away. He then moved to Durban, Kwa-Zulu Natal, where his father, David Maviyo Ngcobo, raised him.
His older brother, Siyabonga Ngcobo, inspired him to become a rapper. David learned how to make music from his brother when he was just nine years old. He also has a younger brother named Olwethu. David finished school at Strelitzia Secondary School in Lotus Park, Durban.
When he was fourteen, Nasty C released his first mixtape called One Kid, a Thousand Coffins in 2012. A mixtape is a collection of songs, often shared for free. He then released his first EP (a shorter collection of songs) called L.A.M.E in 2014.
In 2015, he released his second mixtape, Price City. This mixtape included the popular song "Juice Back," which made him much more famous. Later, "Juice Back" got a remix with well-known artists Davido and Cassper Nyovest.
Bad Hair and Growing Fame (2016–2017)
On 11 February 2016, Nasty C released "Hell Naw." This song was the first single from his upcoming debut album. On 23 September, he released his first album, Bad Hair.
For the album's cover, he asked his fans on Twitter to send him pictures of their "bad hair" days. He then used these pictures to create a unique image of his face. Bad Hair quickly became number one on the iTunes charts in South Africa. It was also the most streamed album in the country within 24 hours.
Nasty C also released a 15-minute film with three songs from Bad Hair. This short film was shown in many countries, which was a big deal for an African music video.
In December 2016, he released an extended version of the album called Bad Hair Extensions. This version had four new songs, including "Allow" featuring American rapper French Montana. Nasty C won many awards in 2016 and 2017. He was even nominated for a BET Award for Best International Act: Africa.
New Deals and Strings and Bling (2018)

On 20 August 2018, Nasty C started his very own record label called Tall Racks Records. A record label helps artists make and release their music. The first artist to sign with his label was Rowlene, who he had worked with before.
