Shannon Brown (born November 29, 1985) is an American former professional basketball player. He played as a shooting guard. Brown is best known for winning two NBA championships with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2009 and 2010.
Before joining the NBA, he was a star player in high school and college. He was picked by the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 2006 NBA draft.

Early Life and College Basketball
Shannon Brown grew up in Maywood, Illinois. He went to Proviso East High School. There, he played basketball with another future NBA player, Dee Brown.
High School Achievements
In 2003, Shannon Brown was named Illinois Mr. Basketball. This award goes to the best high school player in Illinois. He was also chosen as a McDonald's All-American. This means he was one of the top high school basketball players in the whole country. Experts at Rivals.com thought he was the best shooting guard in the nation. They ranked him as the third-best player overall in his class.
College Career at Michigan State
After high school, Brown played college basketball for the Michigan State Spartans. He was a very important player for his team. In his third year, he was named to the second-team All-Big Ten. He was also recognized for his strong defense.
Professional Basketball Career
Shannon Brown played for several teams during his time in the NBA. He was known for his amazing athleticism and dunking ability.
Cleveland Cavaliers (2006–2008)

The Cleveland Cavaliers drafted Shannon Brown in the first round in 2006. He was the 25th player picked overall. In his first season, he played in 23 games. He scored double figures in points twice. He also spent some time playing in the NBA Development League (now called the G-League). This league helps players improve their skills. He played for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds and later the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. While with the Vipers, he once scored 37 points in a game.
In 2008, Brown was part of a big trade. He moved from the Cavaliers to the Chicago Bulls.
Charlotte Bobcats (2008–2009)
After a short time with the Bulls, Brown signed with the Charlotte Bobcats in August 2008. He played limited minutes for the Bobcats.
Los Angeles Lakers (2009–2011)
Shannon Brown's career really took off when he was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2009. His playing time increased a lot towards the end of the season. He played well in the playoffs, helping the Lakers.
In July 2009, Brown signed a new contract to stay with the Lakers.
In January 2010, he was chosen to compete in the Sprite Slam Dunk Competition. This showed how exciting his dunks were! He also scored a career-high 27 points in a game against the Golden State Warriors. He also got 10 rebounds, which is called a double-double.
Brown won his first NBA championship with the Lakers in 2009. He then won his second championship in 2010. These were big achievements in his career. He continued to play well for the Lakers, averaging 8.7 points per game in the 2010-2011 season.
Phoenix Suns (2011–2013)
After leaving the Lakers, Brown joined the Phoenix Suns in December 2011. He had some great games with the Suns. On March 27, 2012, he scored a career-high 32 points against the San Antonio Spurs. He also had a fantastic game against his old team, the Lakers, scoring 20 points in one quarter.
He re-signed with the Suns in 2012. In November 2012, he hit six three-pointers in a row in one game. This helped his team win against the Charlotte Bobcats. He also scored 22 points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
In October 2013, Brown was traded to the Washington Wizards. However, he was released by the Wizards shortly after.
Later Career (2014–2018)
Brown continued to play in the NBA for a few more teams.
- San Antonio Spurs (2014): He signed two 10-day contracts with the Spurs.
- New York Knicks (2014): He also signed two 10-day contracts and then a contract for the rest of the season with the Knicks.
- Miami Heat (2014): He played in five games for the Heat before being released.
After his time in the NBA, Brown played in the NBA G League.
- Wisconsin Herd (2017–2018): He joined the Milwaukee Bucks' G-League team.
- Delaware 87ers (2018): He was traded to the Delaware 87ers (now Blue Coats).
