Playing Career Highlights

After playing college basketball, Shannon Johnson joined the Columbus Quest team. She helped them win two championships in the American Basketball League in 1997 and 1998.

In 1999, Johnson began her career in the WNBA with the Orlando Miracle. She was a key player for them. She also played basketball overseas in countries like Turkey and Spain during the WNBA off-seasons.

The Orlando Miracle team later moved to Connecticut in 2003 and became the Connecticut Sun. Before the 2004 season, Johnson was traded to the San Antonio Silver Stars. She also played for the Detroit Shock in 2007 and the Houston Comets in 2008. Her last WNBA team was the Seattle Storm in 2009.

Shannon Johnson was chosen to be a WNBA All-Star multiple times. She earned this honor in 1999, 2000, 2002, and 2003. Her high school coach, Pat Hewitt, was a big influence on her career.

Shannon Johnson also had an amazing career playing for USA Basketball, representing the United States in international competitions.

Jones Cup Success

  • In 1995, she was part of the Jones Cup Team that won a bronze medal in Taipei.
