Shark Key is a small island located in the beautiful Florida Keys. It is part of a long chain of islands in the southern part of Florida, USA. This island is known for its connection to the famous Overseas Highway.
About Shark Key
Shark Key is an island in the lower part of the Florida Keys. It is about 7 miles (11 kilometers) east of Key West. Key West is a well-known city at the very end of the Florida Keys.
Where is Shark Key Located?
The island is found north of U.S. 1. This road is also called the Overseas Highway. It connects many of the Florida Keys islands. Shark Key is located around mile marker 11.5 on this highway. It sits between the Saddlebunch Keys and Big Coppitt Key.
A Bit of History
Did you know that Shark Key had a different name a long time ago? Its earlier name was Stark Key. Over time, the name changed to what we know it as today.
