Sharna May Burgess (born June 21, 1985) is a famous Australian ballroom dancer. She is best known for being a professional dancer on the American TV show Dancing with the Stars. Sharna won season 27 of the show with her celebrity partner Bobby Bones. She has also been a runner-up many times. Since 2019, she has also been a judge on the Australian version of Dancing with the Stars.

Early Life and Dance Training
Sharna Burgess was born in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, Australia. Her parents are Ray and Lucy Burgess. When she was growing up, Sharna loved many sports and different types of dance.
She started learning ballet, jazz, and gymnastics at age five. When she was eight, she began studying ballroom dance. She quickly became very good, winning many local and national dance titles. At 15, she was chosen to represent Australia at the World Championships. She competed in both Standard and Latin dance styles. Sharna also performed in the Closing Ceremonies of the 2000 Summer Olympics.
Sharna's Dance Career
When Sharna was 18, she moved to London to continue her dance career. There, she won many awards and performed in a show called "Simply Ballroom" across the UK. After that, a famous choreographer named Jason Gilkison invited her to join the dance show "Burn the Floor." She was part of this show for six years. Sharna was also in the cast when "Burn the Floor" moved to Broadway, which is a big achievement for dancers.
Dancing on TV Shows
Sharna's first TV appearances were on the Australian Dancing with the Stars. She also appeared on So You Think You Can Dance in Belgium and the Netherlands.
She joined the American Dancing with the Stars in season 13. At first, she was a "troupe member," which means she was part of the group of dancers who performed in the background. She also helped choreographer Jason Gilkison on both the Australian and American versions of So You Think You Can Dance. Sharna stayed in the troupe until the end of season 15.
For season 16, Sharna became a main professional dancer. Her first celebrity partner was Andy Dick. She returned for season 17 with retired NFL star Keyshawn Johnson. They were the first couple to be eliminated that season.
In season 18, she danced with Olympic ice dancer Charlie White. They did very well, often getting high scores from the judges. They made it to the semi-finals and finished in 5th place. Sharna continued to be a professional dancer for many more seasons.
Highlights on Dancing with the Stars
Sharna had many memorable seasons on Dancing with the Stars:
- In season 20, she partnered with combat veteran Noah Galloway. They reached the finals and finished in third place.
- For season 21, she danced with Backstreet Boys singer Nick Carter. They were very popular and finished in second place.
- In season 23, Sharna was partnered with race car driver James Hinchcliffe. She had a knee injury during this season and had to miss some performances, but they still made it to the finals and finished in 2nd place.
- Sharna finally won the competition in season 27 with radio personality Bobby Bones. Even though their scores from the judges were sometimes low, fans voted for them, and they won the Mirrorball Trophy!
Sharna did not appear on season 28. She returned for season 29 with actor Jesse Metcalfe. In Season 30, she danced with her real-life partner Brian Austin Green.

Personal Life
After performing in the World Championships semi-finals, Sharna found out she had a small tear in her knee. She chose to finish the competition before getting treatment.
She dated choreographer and dancer Paul Kirkland from 2010 to 2015.
On September 22, 2023, Sharna announced on Instagram that she and actor Brian Austin Green were engaged. They met in 2020 through mutual friends. In February 2022, they shared that they were expecting their first child together. Their son was born on June 28, 2022.
On October 6, 2022, Sharna Burgess became a citizen of the United States.
