Noah's Career Journey
Serving in the Military
Noah joined the military in 2001, after the events of 9/11. He became a Sergeant in the 1st Battalion of the 502nd Infantry, part of the 101st Airborne Division. His unit was based at Fort Campbell, Kentucky.
During his second time serving in Iraq, on December 19, 2005, Noah was seriously hurt. This happened during an IED attack in Yusafiah, Iraq. He lost his left arm above the elbow and his left leg above the knee. His right leg and jaw were also badly injured. Noah was unconscious for five days. He was then moved to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. for more medical care and to begin his recovery.
Becoming a Fitness Star
After leaving the Army, Noah went through a very challenging time. With encouragement from his friend Eric Eisenberg, who helps people with prosthetic devices, Noah started focusing on fitness. He reconnected with his love for sports, which he had enjoyed since childhood.
Noah eventually became a personal trainer. He took part in many different fitness competitions. These included regular 5K and 10K races, as well as tough events like Tough Mudders, CrossFit competitions, and Spartan races. Noah was also part of Operation Enduring Warrior, a group that helps veterans through sports. He even joined a team trying to climb Carstensz Pyramid in Indonesia. Noah said that social media helped him stay motivated for these events.
Inspiring Others as a Speaker
Noah Galloway is also a popular motivational speaker. He talks to many different groups, including veterans and school children. His main message is "no excuses," encouraging everyone to overcome challenges.
In November 2014, Noah was featured on the cover of Men's Health magazine. He was the first reader ever chosen for the magazine's cover and was named their "Ultimate Men's Health Guy." He has also been a guest on famous TV shows like The Ellen DeGeneres Show and The Today Show. In 2015, he was on the cover of U.S. Veterans Magazine.

Dancing with the Stars
In 2015, Noah Galloway was a contestant on Dancing with the Stars (season 20). He was paired with professional dancer Sharna Burgess. Noah tried using a prosthetic arm for one dance, but he and Sharna decided not to use it for any of their performances. The show's producers told him he would not have to do the jive or quickstep dances. These dances have very fast, repeated movements that would have been too painful for him.
On May 19, 2015, Noah and Sharna finished the competition in third place. Riker Lynch came in second, and Rumer Willis won first place.
