Jesse Eden Metcalfe (born December 9, 1978) is an American actor. He is well-known for playing John Rowland on the TV show Desperate Housewives. Jesse Metcalfe also had important roles in the soap opera Passions and played the main character in the movie John Tucker Must Die.
He starred as Christopher Ewing in the TV series Dallas, which was a continuation of the original 1978 show. From 2016 to 2021, Metcalfe was a main actor as Trace Riley in the Hallmark Channel series Chesapeake Shores.

Early Life and Education
Jesse Metcalfe was born in Carmel Valley Village, California. His parents are Nancy and Jeff Metcalfe. He has Italian, French, and Portuguese family roots.
When he was a teenager, Jesse loved playing basketball in Waterford, Connecticut. He finished high school at The Williams School in New London, Connecticut. Later, he attended New York University but left when he got his first big acting role on the TV show Passions.
Acting Career Highlights
Jesse Metcalfe started his acting journey in July 1999 on the NBC soap opera Passions. He played the character Miguel Lopez-Fitzgerald. He stayed on the show until July 2004.
Breakthrough Role in Desperate Housewives
In October 2004, Jesse Metcalfe joined the cast of the ABC show Desperate Housewives. He played John Rowland, a teenage gardener. His character was involved in a storyline with Gabrielle Solis, played by Eva Longoria.
In 2005, Jesse won the "Choice TV Breakout Performance: Male" award at the Teen Choice Awards for his work on Desperate Housewives. He appeared on the show until October 2009.
Starring in John Tucker Must Die
In July 2006, Jesse Metcalfe took on the main role in the comedy film John Tucker Must Die. He played John Tucker, a popular high school student. The movie also featured Sophia Bush, Brittany Snow, Arielle Kebbel, and Ashanti.
The film was made in Vancouver and earned over $68 million worldwide. Jesse even hosted an episode of a British TV show to help promote the movie.

More recently, Jesse has starred in the Martha's Vineyard Mysteries series on the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries channel, playing retired detective Jeff Jackson. In 2020, he competed on the 29th season of Dancing with the Stars. In 2022, he appeared on the British version of The Masked Dancer as "Astronaut."
Personal Life
Jesse Metcalfe was in a relationship with singer Nadine Coyle from 2006 to 2008. He later met Cara Santana in 2009, and they were engaged in 2016. However, they ended their engagement in January 2020.
In 2008, Jesse hosted the World Music Awards in Monaco. After the ceremony, he had an accident where he fell from a balcony and fractured his fibula, but thankfully avoided more serious injuries.
