Shatin Pui Ying College, also known as SPYC or PYC, is a Christian secondary school in Hong Kong. It opened in 1978 and teaches all subjects in English. The government fully supports the school. Its symbol is an eagle, which stands for courage and determination. In the 2018-2019 school year, it had four classes for Forms 1 to 5 and five classes for Form 6.

School History and Growth

The school was founded by Reverend Henry Noyes. He was a minister from the U.S. Presbyterian Church. In 1879, he started a small school called An Hwoh School in Guangzhou. It taught subjects like Mathematics and Science. Over time, the Pui Ying schools grew and spread. A group of these schools was set up in different cities, including Guangzhou, Taishan, Jiangmen, and Hong Kong.

In 1978, to celebrate 100 years of Pui Ying schools, the Board of Directors opened Shatin Pui Ying College. It was an Anglo-Chinese school, meaning it taught in both English and Chinese. Mr. Wong Wai Wah was the first Principal. In its first year, the school used classrooms at Baptist Lui Ming Choi Secondary School. By September 1979, the school moved into its own building with 10 classrooms in Wo Che Estate. The school library opened in September 1982.

To help more students continue their studies, the school changed its class structure. The Student Union was created in September 1995. A Parent-Teacher Association was also formed in 1996. In July 2005, a new building was opened. This new wing has more classrooms for older students, a bigger library, and special rooms for different activities.

In September 2019, students and alumni from many Hong Kong secondary schools took part in a "human chain" activity. This was to show their support for certain requests. Students from Shatin Pui Ying College also joined this activity. It usually happened early in the morning, from about 7 AM to 8 AM. Students and alumni from 17 out of 18 districts in Hong Kong participated.
