The Shaw Center for the Arts is a cool place in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. It's a big building that opened in 2005. You can find a performing arts theater, a fine arts museum, and even classrooms there.
The center is about 125,000 square feet in size. It has the LSU Museum of Art and the LSU School of Art Glassell Gallery. There's also the Manship Theatre, which is a great spot for shows. You can even find a rooftop sushi restaurant called Tsunami and a park! The museum has a special collection of Newcomb Pottery, which is the biggest in the United States.
The outside of the Shaw Center is made of special see-through glass. This glass comes all the way from Germany. The building has won awards for its unique design. For example, it received an award in 2005 for its "aggressive concept" and how its front looked good with the plaza outside.
Many people and groups helped pay for the Shaw Center. The Shaw Group was a big donor, which is why the building is named after them. But remember, the Shaw Center is not owned by The Shaw Group. Other important donors included the Manship and Pennington families, and Lamar Advertising.
