Shawn Mullins is an American singer and songwriter. He was born on March 8, 1968. He is known for his folk rock and Americana music. In 1998, his song "Lullaby" became a huge hit. It reached number one on the Adult Top 40 chart. The song was also nominated for a Grammy Award, which is a very important music award.

Early Life and Music Beginnings
Shawn Mullins grew up in Atlanta, Georgia. He became interested in music when he was in high school. He went to Clarkston High School. There, he met Amy Ray from the band Indigo Girls, who became a friend and mentor.
Later, Shawn went to the University of North Georgia. He played music as a solo artist. He also led the military marching band there. Shawn had an Army scholarship. He thought about a military career. However, he soon decided he wanted to focus on writing songs. After college, he served a short time in the U.S. Army Reserve. He reached the rank of 1st lieutenant before leaving honorably.

Starting with a Band
After college, Shawn Mullins formed a band called "Shawn Eric Mullins with Twice Removed." He added a drummer, Mickey Hendrix, and a bassist, Carlton Brown. This trio became very popular on campus and in the local area. Later, the band members decided to go their separate ways. Shawn then started working with different musicians. He built his reputation as a solo artist.
Finding Commercial Success
Shawn Mullins became widely known when his song "Lullaby" became a big hit. This song was from his album Soul's Core. The music video for "Lullaby" featured actress Dominique Swain.
Another one of his songs, "All in My Head," was used on the TV show Scrubs. The show's producers were looking for a theme song. Shawn wrote a demo version of "All in My Head" very quickly. Even though it wasn't chosen as the main theme, the demo was used in an episode of the show.
His song "Shimmer" was also popular. It was on the soundtrack for the TV show Dawson's Creek. "Shimmer" was even used in Australia to promote the 2000 Summer Olympics. Many people in Australia still think of it as the unofficial song for those games.
In 2002, Shawn Mullins formed a band called The Thorns. He created this band with two other musicians, Matthew Sweet and Pete Droge.
Working with Vanguard Records
In 2006, Shawn Mullins released his first album with a new record label, Vanguard Records. The album was called 9th Ward Pickin Parlor. A song from this album, "Beautiful Wreck," also became a hit. It reached number one on the Americana and AAA (Adult Album Alternative) charts.
He released two more albums with Vanguard Records. Honeydew came out in 2008. Then, Light You Up was released in 2010.

In 2015, Shawn Mullins released his album My Stupid Heart. This album was released under Sugar Hill and Rounder Records. He continues to make music and perform for his fans.
