Shelley King (born 25 September 1955) is a British actress. She is well-known for playing Jay Harper in the BBC drama series Angels. She also played Yasmeen Nazir in the ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
Early Life and Background
Shelley King was born in Calcutta, India, in 1955. Her father, Kelly King, was a photographer. Shelley grew up in New Malden, Surrey, in the UK. She went to Coombe Girls School. In 2023, she shared that she was being tested for autism. The next year, she confirmed she had received an autism diagnosis.
Acting Career Highlights
Shelley King started her television career in 1975. Her first role was Jay Harper in the BBC drama series Angels. She was part of this show until 1980. After Angels, she appeared in many other British TV series. These included The Jewel in the Crown, Tandoori Nights, and The Demon Headmaster.
In 2010, she acted in an episode of The Bill called "Intervention." She played Nakuru Kapur. In 2014, Shelley King joined the cast of the ITV soap opera Coronation Street.
