Sheridan was a small, old town in King County, Washington. It's known as a ghost town today because no one lives there anymore. Back in the 1890s, people in Sheridan were busy digging for silver. The town also had a post office, a hotel, a store, and a mill.
Where Was Sheridan?
Sheridan was located in a part of Washington state called King County. It was close to where the town of Maple Valley is today.
A Glimpse into Sheridan's Past
Even though Sheridan was a small town, it has an interesting connection to history. Martha George, who later became an important leader of the Suquamish tribe, was born there. She was born on April 28, 1892, in a logging camp. Her mother and grandmother worked as cooks at this camp, showing how people lived and worked in towns like Sheridan back then.
