Sherri Michelle Saum (born October 1, 1974) is an American actress. She is well-known for her main role as Lena Adams Foster in the TV show The Fosters (2013–2018). She also appeared in its spin-off show, Good Trouble (2019–2024). Sherri Saum has also acted in other TV series like Rescue Me and Locke & Key. She also appeared in daytime soap operas such as Sunset Beach and One Life to Live.

Early Life and Education
Sherri Saum was born in Dayton, Ohio. Her mother is German, and her father is African-American. She started her career in modeling after being discovered at a Model Search America event. She modeled during her summer breaks in high school. Later, she moved to New York to work full-time as a model.
Saum went to college at Ohio State University in Columbus. She also studied at New York University in New York City.
Acting Career Highlights

Sherri Saum began her acting journey in 1997 on the NBC soap opera Sunset Beach. She played the character Vanessa Hart until the show ended in 1999. For this role, she was nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in 1999.
After Sunset Beach, Saum joined the comedy-drama series Beggars and Choosers from 1999 to 2000. She also made guest appearances on popular shows like Girlfriends and Charmed. From 2001 to 2003, she had another role in a daytime soap opera, playing Keri Reynolds in ABC's One Life to Live.
Television Roles and Guest Appearances
From 2006 to 2007, Sherri Saum played Natalie in the FX drama series Rescue Me. She also appeared in a TV movie called Relative Stranger. In 2009, she had a main role as Bess in the HBO series In Treatment.
Over the next few years, Saum made guest appearances on many TV shows. These included Gossip Girl, Unforgettable, Body of Proof, and Revenge.
Starring in The Fosters
In 2012, Sherri Saum was cast in a main role alongside Teri Polo in The Fosters. This drama series was produced by Jennifer Lopez for ABC Family. The show first aired on June 3, 2013.
The Fosters became very popular and ran for five seasons, ending in 2018. Saum played Lena Adams Foster, one of the main characters. After The Fosters ended, she continued her role in its spin-off series, Good Trouble, starting in 2019.
While working on The Fosters, Saum also took on other guest roles. In 2014, she appeared in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Her real-life pregnancy was even included in the story of that episode. She also appeared in How to Get Away with Murder and The Mysteries of Laura in 2015. In 2016, she was on Code Black, and in 2018, she appeared in The Librarians.
Recent Projects
After The Fosters, Sherri Saum played the adult Regina Louise in the movie I Am Somebody's Child: The Regina Louise Story. She also joined the Marvel sci-fi series Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for three episodes.
In 2019, Saum co-starred in the drama series Limetown. She also played Mimi DeLuca in the CW series Roswell, New Mexico. In the same year, she took on a recurring role as Ellie Whedon in the Netflix fantasy drama Locke & Key. She later became a main character in the third season of Locke & Key.
Due to travel rules during the COVID-19 pandemic, Sherri spent several months in Canada filming Locke & Key in 2021. That year, she also returned to Good Trouble. In 2022, she appeared again on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit in a new role. She also continued her role as Lena Adams Foster on Good Trouble.
Personal Life
On May 19, 2007, Sherri Saum married her long-time boyfriend, Kamar de los Reyes. He was also an actor and her former co-star from One Life to Live.
In 2013, the couple announced they were expecting twins. Their twin children were born in 2014. Sherri is also a stepmother to Kamar de los Reyes’ son from a previous relationship.
Sadly, Kamar de los Reyes passed away on December 24, 2023, at the age of 56.
