Sherri Michelle Saum (born October 1, 1974) is an American actress. She is famous for playing Lena Adams Foster, one of the main characters in the TV series The Fosters. She also appeared in its spinoff show, Good Trouble.
Saum has acted in many other television shows. Some of her well-known roles were in the daytime TV dramas Sunset Beach and One Life to Live. She also had important parts in the series Rescue Me and the popular fantasy show Locke & Key.

Early Life and Education
Sherri Saum was born in Dayton, Ohio. Her mother is German and her father is African-American. She first got noticed at a modeling event in Kettering, Ohio, near her hometown.
She started modeling during her summer breaks from high school. After graduating, she moved to New York City to become a full-time model. Saum later studied at Ohio State University and New York University.
Acting Career

Saum's acting career began in 1997 on the NBC show Sunset Beach. She played the character Vanessa Hart until the show ended in 1999. Her performance earned her a nomination for a Daytime Emmy Award.
After Sunset Beach, she acted in the comedy-drama series Beggars and Choosers. She also made guest appearances on shows like Girlfriends and Charmed. From 2001 to 2003, she returned to daytime television in the show One Life to Live as Keri Reynolds.
Major Roles in TV Dramas
From 2006 to 2007, Saum had a role in the drama series Rescue Me. In 2009, she was a main character in the second season of the HBO series In Treatment.
Over the next few years, she appeared as a guest star in several popular shows. These included Gossip Girl, Body of Proof, and Revenge.
The Fosters and Recent Work
In 2012, Saum was cast in one of the lead roles for the series The Fosters, which was produced by Jennifer Lopez. She played Lena Adams Foster alongside actress Teri Polo. The show was very popular and ran for five seasons, from 2013 to 2018. She later returned as Lena in the spinoff series Good Trouble.
In 2019, Saum joined the cast of the Netflix fantasy series Locke & Key. She played Ellie Whedon, a teacher with a mysterious connection to the main family. She also had recurring roles in other shows like Roswell, New Mexico and Power Book II: Ghost.
Personal Life
In 2007, Saum married actor Kamar de los Reyes, whom she had worked with on One Life to Live. In 2014, they welcomed twin sons. Saum was also a stepmother to de los Reyes's older son.
Sadly, her husband Kamar de los Reyes passed away from cancer on December 24, 2023.
