Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion (Japanese: 新幹線変形ロボ シンカリオン, Hepburn: Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkarion, "Transforming Bullet Train Robot Shinkalion") is a cool Japanese toy series. It's made by Takara Tomy and works with the Japan Railways Group. This series is a spin-off from the popular Plarail model train toys. The first Shinkalion toys came out on March 16, 2015. Later, an anime TV show was made by OLM, Inc.. It aired in Japan from January 6, 2018, to June 29, 2019. A brand new anime show called Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z started on April 9, 2021. It's all about amazing bullet trains that turn into giant robots!

Story of Shinkalion
The world of Shinkalion is full of action and adventure. It features special bullet trains that can change into giant robots. These robots are called Shinkalions. They protect Earth from mysterious threats.
First Anime Season
Strange monsters called Kitoralzers suddenly attacked Japan. This started after a mysterious Black Shinkansen appeared. To fight back, a secret group was formed. It was called the Shinkansen Ultra Evolution Institute. Their job was to study the Black Shinkansen. They also used Shinkalions to fight the monsters.
One day, a young boy named Hayato Hayasugi got involved. He loved trains because his dad worked at the Railway Museum. Hayato accidentally found out about his dad's secret job. He also showed a surprising talent for driving a Shinkalion. He thought he was just playing a mobile game! Even though adults were worried, Hayato joined other kids. Together, they used Shinkalions to fight the Kitoralzers.
The Shinkalion Movie
About six months after the Kitoralzers were defeated, new giant beings appeared. They came from space, led by Nahane and Ohanefu. Their plan was to take over Earth. During these attacks, the Institute was busy. They were developing a new robot called the Shinkalion ALFA-X.
Suddenly, a 9-year-old boy named Hokuto appeared. He came from another time and place. The Institute had no choice but to make young Hokuto the driver of the Shinkalion ALFA-X. Teams from all over Japan joined forces. They were the last hope against the space invaders.
Second Anime Season
The Ultra Evolution Institute got ready for new enemies. They developed a new robot called "Shinkalion Z." They also created "Zailiners." These are special trains that turn into powerful upgrades for the Shinkalion Z.
Kids who are good at driving Shinkalion Z robots become drivers. They work with the Institute staff. Together, they face the giant monsters that have returned. This season shows new enemies and the meeting of two important boys.

Awesome Toys
The first Shinkalion toys came out on March 16, 2015. They are part of the Plarail toy line. The original toys look like regular Shinkansen trains. They have a front, middle, and back part. These parts can connect to any Plarail track. But the best part is that these three pieces can transform! They combine into a giant robot that is 18 inches tall. Each robot toy comes with its own weapon and accessories. You can even swap parts between different figures for more fun!
New figures are released every year. Many toys were redesigned in 2018. They now look more like the robots in the anime show. The toys for the Z anime have even more train models. These models are based on regular trains. They can form new arms, legs, and weapons for the Shinkalion Z robots.
You can also find other Shinkalion items. These include keychains and other fun collectibles. Companies like Good Smile Company make model kits of the robots. They also made a Nendoroid figure of Hatsune Miku based on her look in the anime.
The Anime TV Series
The TV show, Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion THE ANIMATION (Japanese: 新幹線変形ロボ シンカリオン THE ANIMATION, Hepburn: Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkarion THE ANIMATION), was made by OLM, Inc.. This is the same studio that makes Pokémon. The show aired in Japan from January 6, 2018, to June 29, 2019. Takahiro Ikezoe directed it, and Kento Shimoyama wrote the stories. The opening song is "Shinka Riron" by Boys and Men. There were also many cool ending songs by different artists. Toshiyuki Watanabe created the music for the series.
A new anime TV series, Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion Z, started on April 9, 2021. Kentaro Yamaguchi is directing this series. Takahiro Ikezoe is the chief director. The opening song for this new series is "New Challenger" by Boys and Men.
The Big Movie
A movie sequel to the anime came out in cinemas in Japan. It's called Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion the Movie: Mirai Kara Kita Shinsoku no ALFA-X (Japanese: 劇場版 新幹線変形ロボ シンカリオン 未来からきた神速のALFA-X, Hepburn: Gekijō-ban Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkarion Mirai Kara Kita Shinsoku no Arufaekkusu, "The Swiftly ALFA-X that came from the Future"). It premiered on December 27, 2019.
Video Games
An arcade game based on the series was released in March 2018. It's called Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkalion: Get the Card! Super Evolution Battle (Japanese: 新幹線変形ロボ シンカリオン カードがもらえる! 超シンカバトル, Hepburn: Shinkansen Henkei Robo Shinkarion Kādo ga Moraeru! Chō Shinka Batoru). It was made by Takara-Tomy A.R.T.S. Characters from Shinkalion also appeared in other mobile games. These include Alien no Tamago and Sega's Kotodaman. The series even joined the Super Robot Wars game series, starting with Super Robot Wars X-Ω.
