College Career at Baylor
Linwood played college football for the Baylor Bears.
Starting Strong
Linwood did not play in his first year, 2012. This is called a redshirt year. It means he could practice with the team but not play in games. This gave him more time to get ready for college football.
In 2013, as a redshirt freshman, he played in almost all the games. He was a backup running back. He even started two games when other players were hurt. Linwood set a new school record for freshmen. He ran for 881 yards, breaking the old record. He also scored 8 touchdowns. Because of his great play, he was named a Freshman All-American.
Leading the Team
As a sophomore in 2014, Linwood became the main running back. He ran for 1,252 yards and scored 16 touchdowns. He helped Baylor win their second straight Big 12 title. The Big 12 is a group of college teams that play against each other.
In 2015, during his junior year, some people thought Linwood might be a contender for the Heisman Trophy. This award goes to the best college football player in the country.
In 2016, his senior year, Linwood played most of the regular season. The Bears had a record of 6 wins and 6 losses. He decided not to play in the post-season Cactus Bowl game. He wanted to focus on his future in football, possibly in the NFL.
