Shonali Nagrani is an Indian actress, television host, and beauty pageant winner. She is well-known for hosting the Indian Premier League (IPL) and for acting in Hindi movies.

In 2003, she competed in the Femina Miss India pageant. She won the title of Femina Miss India International. This win allowed her to represent India at Miss International 2003, where she finished in second place as the 1st runner-up.

Besides modeling, Shonali has hosted the IPL for four years in a row. The Times of India newspaper listed her as one of India's "50 Most Admired Women" in 2011 and 2012.

Early Life and Education

Shonali grew up in a Sindhi family in Delhi. Her father was an officer in the Indian Navy. She went to school at Good Shepherd English School and Army Public School. In 2003, she graduated from Lady Shri Ram College in New Delhi.

In 2013, she married her boyfriend, Shiraz Bhattacharya, in a ceremony in Kerala.

Career Journey

Beauty Pageants and Modeling

Shonali's career took off after she was crowned Femina Miss India International in 2003. She then traveled to Tokyo, Japan, to compete in the Miss International 2003 pageant. She did very well, becoming the 1st runner-up, which means she came in second place out of all the contestants from around the world.

That same year, she had the special opportunity to meet the Prince of Wales during his official visit to India. Since then, she has worked as a model in many fashion shows.

Hosting on Television

Shonali became a popular television host in both India and Great Britain. Early in her career, she hosted a show called Popcorn on Zoom TV. She also appeared as a special guest host on the music competition show Indian Idol.

She has hosted many other shows, including:

  • The Great Indian Laughter Challenge on STAR One
  • The IIFA Awards in Dubai
  • Mr. and Ms. TV on Sony
  • Salaam-e-Ishq on Star One

In 2009, she was a contestant on the adventure reality show Khatron Ke Khiladi. In 2011, she joined the cast of Bigg Boss 5, which is the Indian version of the famous reality show Big Brother.

Hosting Cricket Shows

Shonali is also a famous cricket host. She started in 2006 by hosting the Champions Trophy. The next year, she hosted the 2007 Cricket World Cup for viewers in India.

For several years, she hosted shows for the Indian Premier League (IPL). She worked with major sports channels like ESPN and Star Cricket. She often appeared with famous cricketers like Wasim Akram to talk about the games. For four seasons, she co-hosted the IPL coverage for the British TV network ITV.

Acting in Films

Shonali has also acted in Hindi movies, usually in smaller supporting roles. She made special, brief appearances, known as cameos, in the popular films Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi and Dil Bole Hadippa!.
