Junior Lacrosse Years

Sid Smith started his lacrosse journey playing for the Six Nations Arrows. This team is part of the OLA Junior A Lacrosse League. He helped the Arrows win four league championships in a row!

Sid also won several awards during his junior career:

  • In 2006 and 2007, he was named the league's best defender.
  • In 2006, he won an award for being the most sportsmanlike player in the Minto Cup tournament.
  • In 2007, he was recognized as the top graduating player and the most valuable player in the playoffs.
  • He was the captain of the 2007 team that won the Minto Cup national championship. This was the first time Six Nations had won it since 1992.

In 2006, he helped his team, the Lazers, win the NJCAA national championship. They had a perfect season, winning all 18 of their games! Sid was also named a First-Team All-American in 2006.

Time at Syracuse University

Sid then played for Syracuse University for two years, from 2008 to 2009. During this time, he helped the Syracuse Orange win back-to-back national championships. He was recognized as an All-American player in both 2008 and 2009.

Professional Lacrosse Career

After college, Sid Smith went on to play professional lacrosse.

Major League Lacrosse (MLL)

In 2009, Sid was picked sixth overall by the Toronto Nationals in the MLL Collegiate Draft. As a rookie, he helped the Nationals win the MLL Championship in 2009.

National Lacrosse League (NLL)

On September 9, 2009, Sid was the very first player chosen in the 2009 NLL Entry Draft. He was drafted by the Rochester Knighthawks.

Sid was a key player for the Rochester Knighthawks when they won the NLL Championship in 2012, 2013, and 2014. He was even the team captain for their 2013 and 2014 championship wins!

Canadian Senior "A" Lacrosse

Sid was also part of the Six Nations Chiefs team that won the Mann Cup in 2013. The Mann Cup is a major championship in Canadian Senior "A" lacrosse.
