History of Sidney
Sidney was officially planned and laid out in 1881. This happened when a new railroad line was built through the area. The railroad helped the town grow by connecting it to other places.
Soon after, in 1882, the town got its own post office. This made it easier for people to send and receive mail. Sidney officially became an incorporated town in 1914. This meant it could have its own local government and make decisions for its residents.
