Sierra Aylina McClain (born on March 16, 1994) is an American actress and singer. She is known for her roles in TV shows like Empire and 9-1-1: Lone Star. Sierra also starred in films such as Daddy's Little Girls and Honey: Rise Up and Dance.

Besides acting, Sierra is a talented singer. She is a member of the pop and R&B music group Thriii, which she formed with her sisters.

Early Life and Family

Sierra McClain was born in Decatur, GA. She is the oldest daughter of Michael and Shontell McClain. Her father, Michael, is a music producer. Her mother, Shontell, is a songwriter and used to write for TV shows.

Sierra has two younger sisters, Lauryn and China Anne, who are also actresses and singers. She also has a younger brother named Gabriel, who is an actor. The McClain family lived near Atlanta, Georgia, but later moved to Los Angeles for China's acting career.

Acting Roles and TV Shows

Starting Out in Film

Sierra's acting journey began when her sister China was discovered in 2004. China was cast in the film The Gospel (2005), and Sierra joined the children's choir in the movie.

In 2005, Sierra and her sisters performed a song for a producer of Tyler Perry's House of Payne. This led to them being cast as the James sisters in the film Daddy's Little Girls (2007). Sierra also appeared in an episode of Tyler Perry's House of Payne.

She had a small part in the short film Six Blocks Wide (2008). In 2009, she starred as Carina in the movie Shrink.

Breakthrough on Television

In 2016, Sierra got a big role as Nessa Parker in the TV series Empire. She sang several songs for the show's soundtrack, and this role helped her become widely known.

Sierra also starred as Tosha in the dance film Honey: Rise Up and Dance (2018). She gained more recognition for her roles as Tanya Clifton in the TV series Mindhunter (2019) and as Grace Ryder in 9-1-1: Lone Star (2020–2023).

Music Career and Group

From 3mcclaingirls to Thriii

Around 2005, Sierra, China, and Lauryn formed a music group called 3mcclaingirls. They started sharing videos of themselves singing cover songs on their YouTube channel in 2008.

In 2011, after China got her own show on the Disney Channel called A.N.T. Farm, the sisters changed their group name to "McClain Sisters". They sang two songs for the A.N.T. Farm soundtrack: "Perfect Mistake" and "Electronic Apology". Sierra also helped compose the theme music for the series.

The group performed their version of "Jingle Bell Rock" at the 2011 Disney Parks Christmas Day Parade. In 2012, they signed with Hollywood Records and released their song "Rise". They also opened for Big Time Rush at the Houston Rodeo. Their song "The Great Divide" was very popular, reaching number four on Billboard's US Kid Digital Songs chart.

In 2012, Sierra and Lauryn appeared in an episode of A.N.T. Farm and performed their song "Go".

After A.N.T. Farm ended in 2013, the McClain Sisters left Hollywood Records and changed their group name again, this time to "McClain". The group continued to perform and release music. They performed at the 2014 Radio Disney Music Awards and had their first headlining concert in Anaheim, California.

Around 2016, the group McClain took a break as all three sisters focused on their acting careers. In June 2020, the group changed their name one last time to "Thriii" and performed at Radio Disney Presents ARDYs Summer Playlist.
