Where is Sihlbrugg?
Sihlbrugg is found in the beautiful Sihl Valley. Here, a road crosses the Sihl river on its way between Zug and Wädenswil. The village is nestled between the Albis mountains and the Zimmerberg area. These areas help separate the waters of the Sihl and Lorze rivers. You can find Sihlbrugg south of a spot called Sihlzopf. It is also east of the Hirzel Pass.
Sihlbrugg is quite unique because it's part of several different local areas. These are Baar and Neuheim in the Canton of Zug. It also includes Hausen am Albis and Hirzel in the Canton of Zürich. Most of the village is managed by Baar. This part is called Sihlbrugg Dorf. This helps tell it apart from Sihlbrugg Station. Sihlbrugg Station is a nearby small settlement. It belongs entirely to the town of Horgen in the Canton of Zürich.
What is the Economy Like?
The main business and industrial areas in Sihlbrugg are mostly owned by the town of Baar. You'll find gas stations and places to eat and stay, like hotels. There are only a few apartment buildings where people live in the village.
How Do People Get Around?
For hundreds of years, Sihlbrugg was just a tiny hamlet. It had a bridge that crossed the Sihl river near the Lorze river. Today, Sihlbrugg is a very important connection point for trains. It serves both the SBB-CFF-FFS and the Sihltal Zürich Uetliberg Bahn (SZU) railways.
The Sihlbrugg Dorf (Sihlwald) train station is the last stop for the S-Bahn Zürich's S4 line. Sihlbrugg is also a key end point for the A4 motorway. This motorway connects the Canton of Zug and the Canton of Zürich. Plus, it's a central spot where five different local roads meet. These roads lead to Zürich, Langnau am Albis, Wädenswil (over the Hirzel Pass), and into the Canton of Zug.
