Simisola Shittu (born on November 7, 1999) is a professional basketball player. He was born in Britain but is Canadian. Simisola plays for Promitheas Patras in the Greek Basketball League (GBL) and the Basketball Champions League (BCL). Before becoming a professional, he played college basketball for the Vanderbilt Commodores. When he was in high school, he was considered one of the best young players in his age group.

Early Life and Moving to North America

Simisola Shittu was born in Harrow, London, England. His family has roots in Nigeria and the Caribbean. When he was five years old, he moved to Canada. Later, before starting high school, Simisola moved to the United States. He did this to play against tougher competition and improve his basketball skills.

High School Basketball Journey

Simisola was a highly-rated basketball player during his high school years. He attended several schools to develop his game. These included Corpus Christi Catholic Secondary School in Burlington, Ontario, Montverde Academy in Florida, and Vermont Academy in Vermont. His talent made him one of the top players in the high school class of 2018. He was even chosen to play in special games like the McDonald's All-American Game and the Jordan Brand Classic, which feature the best high school players in the country.

College Basketball at Vanderbilt

After high school, Simisola went to Vanderbilt University to play college basketball for the Commodores. His first year in college, called his freshman year, was a bit challenging for him and his team. Another star player, Darius Garland, got hurt with a knee injury (a torn meniscus). After that, the team struggled, winning only 5 games and losing 23. This tough season affected Simisola's chances of being picked early in the NBA draft.

During his freshman season, Simisola played well, averaging about 10.9 points, 6.7 rebounds, and 1.8 assists per game. After this season, he decided to enter the 2019 NBA draft to try and become a professional player.

Simisola's Professional Basketball Career

Simisola Shittu was not chosen in the 2019 NBA draft, but he still got a chance to play professionally.

Starting with the Windy City Bulls (2019–2020)

After the draft, Simisola joined the Memphis Grizzlies for the 2019 NBA Summer League. In October 2019, he signed with the Chicago Bulls. Even though he was later waived (released) from their main team, he was sent to their minor league team, the Windy City Bulls, in the NBA G League. In one game, he had an amazing performance, scoring 32 points and grabbing 21 rebounds!

He briefly rejoined the Chicago Bulls in December 2020 and had a career-high 13 points in a game.

Playing for Westchester Knicks (2021)

In January 2021, Simisola joined the Westchester Knicks, another team in the NBA G League. He continued to show his skills, averaging 14.4 points and 10.1 rebounds per game during his time there.

Playing Overseas and in the G League

Since 2021, Simisola has played for several teams both in the United States and internationally. He played for Ironi Ness Ziona in Israel (2021–2022). He also played for the Lakeland Magic (2022–2023) and the Iowa Wolves (2023) in the NBA G League.
