A Look Back at Simpson's History
Simpson started out with a different name. It was first called Brittsville in 1871. This was when a special saw mill opened in the area. A saw mill is a place where logs are cut into lumber.
The town's name changed to Simpson in 1882. This new name honored Alfred Simpson, who owned some of the land when the town was founded. The first post office in Brittsville opened in 1874. It also changed its name to Simpson in April 1882.
