Sipacate is a fun resort town and a municipality located on the Pacific coast of Guatemala. It's in the Escuintla Department, about 36 kilometers (22 miles) west of Puerto San José.
This town is very popular for surfing because of its great waves. It's also important for weather, as it helps with storm warnings for the area. East of Sipacate, you'll find the Sipicate-Naranjo National Park, a protected natural area.
Sipacate became its own municipality on October 14, 2015. Before that, it was part of La Gomera Municipality, which is just north of Sipacate.
