Sir Charles Christopher Parker (born June 16, 1792 – died March 13, 1869) was an important British naval officer. He became an Admiral in the Royal Navy. He was the 5th Baronet in his family.

Charles came from a family of naval officers. His father, Christopher Parker, and both of his grandfathers, Sir Peter Parker and John Byron, were also admirals.

Early Adventures at Sea

Charles joined the Royal Navy in June 1804 when he was just 12 years old. His first ship was HMS Glory. He then moved to Barfleur.

In June 1805, he joined the sloop Weazel with his brother Peter. A sloop was a smaller warship. In March 1806, he served on Eagle and saw action near Italy.

By 1809, Charles was on St George. This was a very important ship, used by a high-ranking admiral in the Baltic Sea. He later served on the huge ship San Josef.

In May 1810, he moved to the frigate Unité. A frigate was a fast, medium-sized warship.

Rising Through the Ranks

Charles was promoted to lieutenant on June 17, 1811. A lieutenant is an officer rank in the navy. Soon after, he had a bad fall from the ship's deck. He had to leave the service in August 1811 to recover from his injuries.

He returned to duty in early 1812. He served under his brother Peter on the frigate Menelaus. In May 1812, Charles moved to Malta. He served on this ship until April 5, 1815.

On that day, he was promoted to commander. A commander is a senior officer rank. From 1819 to 1822, he commanded Harlequin off the coast of Ireland.

He was promoted to post-captain on April 23, 1822. This was a very high rank for a ship's captain. After this, he did not serve actively at sea anymore.

Later Life and Legacy

Even after leaving active service, Charles continued to receive promotions on the retired list. He became a rear-admiral in 1852. Then, he was promoted to vice-admiral in 1857. Finally, he reached the highest rank of admiral in 1863.

Charles married Georgiana Ellis Pallmer, but they did not have any children. In 1835, he inherited the family title of Baronet from his brother John.

Sir Charles Christopher Parker passed away in Clifton, Bristol in 1869. Since he had no children, the family title of Baronet ended when he died.
