Sir Thomas Peyton, born on August 13, 1613, was an important person from Knowlton Court in Kent, England. He was known as the 2nd Baronet. He supported the King's side, called the Royalists, during the War of the Three Kingdoms. This was a big conflict in England.
After the King was removed, England was ruled by Parliament from 1649 to 1660. This time was called the Commonwealth. During this period, Sir Thomas Peyton secretly worked to bring King Charles II of England back to power.
When King Charles II returned in May 1660, it was called the Stuart Restoration. Sir Thomas Peyton was given important jobs. He became a Deputy Lord Lieutenant of Kent. He was also chosen to be a Member of Parliament for Kent. Even with these good jobs, he faced money problems when he died in 1684. He had four daughters, and his family lands had to be sold.
Before a neighbor named John Dixwell had to leave England, he sold some of his land to Sir Thomas Peyton. This happened around 1660. Later, one of Sir Thomas's daughters married John Dixwell's nephew. This marriage helped protect John Dixwell's property from being taken by the government.

Political Career
In November 1640, Sir Thomas Peyton was elected as a Member of Parliament for Sandwich. This Parliament was called the Long Parliament. He supported the King during the English Civil War. Because of this, he was removed from Parliament in 1644.
After being removed, he joined a group called The Action Party. This group wanted to change the government that was ruling England at the time. Around 1655, he was put in the Tower of London. But he was allowed to leave for a short time to get medical treatment.
After King Charles II returned to power in 1660, Sir Thomas Peyton was again elected to Parliament. He represented Kent from 1661 to 1679. This Parliament was known as the Cavalier Parliament. Sir Thomas Peyton died in February 1684 at the age of 70.
