Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne (born April 18, 1996), known professionally as Ski Mask the Slump God, is an American rapper and songwriter. He is well-known for his music and for being part of the hip hop group Members Only. He formed this group with his friend XXXTentacion in 2014.

Ski Mask the Slump God signed with Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records. He released his first official mixtape, You Will Regret, in 2017. This mixtape became popular and included hit songs like "BabyWipe" and "Take a Step Back". His first studio album, Stokeley (2018), was very successful. It reached number six on the Billboard 200 music chart. This album featured popular songs such as "Faucet Failure" and "Nuketown".

Early life

Stokeley Clevon Goulbourne was born on April 18, 1996, in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His family comes from Jamaica.

When he was growing up, Goulbourne listened to many different artists. Some of his favorites were Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Wu-Tang Clan, and Lil Wayne. He shared that his parents often played Jamaican music at home. Goulbourne's father was also a rapper, known as "Sin City." His father encouraged him to focus on writing his own rap music.

Career

Starting his music journey (2014–2017)

After a period of time when he was younger, Goulbourne started making music. He formed a rap group called "Very Rare" with his friend XXXTentacion. He released his first song, "Catch Me," on SoundCloud. Goulbourne then helped create the music group Members Only. They released their first collaboration mixtape, Members Only Vol. 1, with XXXTentacion in 2015. They followed this with Members Only, Vol. 2 and Members Only, Vol. 3 in 2017.

Goulbourne released many songs on SoundCloud. These included "Catch Me Outside", "Where's the Blow" (with Lil Pump), "Life Is Short", and "BabyWipe". He has performed at the Rolling Loud Festival several times. He has also made songs with other artists like Offset, Lil Yachty, A$AP Ferg, and Denzel Curry. Goulbourne also worked with Timbaland, who he said was his favorite music producer.

In May 2016, Goulbourne released his first mixtape called Drown in Designer. This mixtape featured the song "Take a Step Back," which later became a certified Gold hit. In June 2017, he released his first official mixtape, You Will Regret. This was released under Victor Victor Worldwide and Republic Records.

Albums and new music (2018–present)

In May 2018, Goulbourne released his third mixtape, Beware the Book of Eli. This mixtape included the song "DoIHaveTheSause?". In June of that year, XXL magazine chose him as one of their "2018 Freshman Class" artists. On November 30, 2018, Goulbourne released his first studio album, Stokeley. This album featured popular songs like "Faucet Failure" and "Nuketown" (with Juice Wrld). The album reached number 6 on the Billboard 200 chart.

After the success of Stokeley, Goulbourne released a single called "Carbonated Water" in 2019. In July 2020, he released the song "Burn the Hoods" with a music video. He also announced that his second album would come out later that year, but it was not released then. Goulbourne has said he plans to release more new music for his fans.

In May 2021, Goulbourne announced a mixtape called Sin City The Mixtape. He released Sin City on June 25, 2021.

On November 21, 2023, Goulbourne announced his second studio album, 11th Dimension. He told his fans that it would be "coming so soon."

Musical influences

Goulbourne has shared that Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliot, and Chief Keef have influenced his music the most. He also said that he listens to many different types of music. He enjoys "every genre: rap, rock, classical, heavy metal." He even mentioned that he listens to Adele sometimes.

As of June 2018, Stokeley Goulbourne lives in Atlanta, Georgia.

Friendships

XXXTentacion

Goulbourne and XXXTentacion were close friends before they both started rapping. They met when they were younger. Goulbourne said that XXXTentacion taught him about different ways to rap while they were together. After they were released, they decided to focus on making music together. The two rappers then started the group Members Only.

In 2017, Goulbourne and XXXTentacion went on The Revenge Tour with Craig Xen. The tour was stopped early because of an event involving XXXTentacion's cousin. By late 2017, the two friends decided to work on their own music projects for a while.

At the Rolling Loud Miami festival in 2018, Goulbourne and XXXTentacion met again and confirmed their friendship. On June 18, 2018, XXXTentacion passed away. Goulbourne learned about his friend's death while on Instagram Live. He tearfully shared the sad news with his fans.

Juice Wrld

In early 2018, Goulbourne became good friends with the rising rapper Juice Wrld. They worked together on the song "Nuketown." This song became Goulbourne's highest-charting song on the Billboard Hot 100. It was announced that they were working on a mixtape called Evil Twins, but it was never released. In 2019, after Juice Wrld's second album came out, the two went on the Death Race for Love Tour together.

Goulbourne was very sad when he heard the news of Juice Wrld's passing. He attended Juice Wrld's funeral later that month.

Aftermath

The passing of his two close friends within a short time had a big impact on Goulbourne. After XXXTentacion's death, Goulbourne honored him many times during his concerts. Goulbourne also met XXXTentacion's son, Gekyume Onfroy, for the first time at a show.
