Louis Arthur "Skip" Bafalis (born September 28, 1929 – died March 10, 2023) was an American businessman and a politician. He served as a U.S. Representative for Florida from 1973 to 1983.
Skip Bafalis was a member of the Republican Party. He also ran for governor of Florida in 1982. Before serving in the U.S. Congress, he was a member of the Florida Senate from 1966 to 1970.

Early Life and Education
Skip Bafalis was born in Boston, Massachusetts. His father came from Greece, and his mother's parents were from Sweden.
He finished high school in 1948 at Manchester Central High School in Manchester, New Hampshire. After that, he went to Saint Anselm College until 1952.
Military Service and Business Career
Bafalis joined the United States Army and served from 1953 to 1956. He became a captain during his time in the army.
After leaving the military, he moved to Florida in 1955. There, he worked as an investment banker, which means he helped people and companies with their money and investments.
Political Journey
Skip Bafalis began his political career in Florida. He was first elected to the Florida House of Representatives in 1964.
Serving in the Florida Senate
Later, he was elected to the Florida Senate in 1966 and again in 1968. The Florida Senate is part of the state's government that makes laws for Florida.
In 1970, he tried to become the governor of Florida, but he did not win his party's nomination.
Joining the U.S. Congress
In 1972, Bafalis was elected to the United States Congress. He represented a new area in Florida that stretched from Palm Beach to Fort Myers.
He served in Congress for five terms, from January 3, 1973, to January 3, 1983. During this time, he lived in Fort Myers Beach and Palm Beach.
Later Political Efforts
Bafalis did not run for re-election to Congress in 1982. Instead, he ran for governor of Florida again but was defeated by the person who was already governor, Bob Graham.
After his time in Congress, he worked as a consultant, helping people understand how the government works. He tried to return to Congress in 1988, but he lost in the primary election.
Personal Life
Skip Bafalis lived near Washington, D.C., in Fairfax, Virginia. He was a partner at a firm that worked with the government.
He had three children: Renee Louise Bafalis, Gregory Louis Bafalis, and Joshua Evan Bafalis. His wife's name was Charlotte Maria Bafalis.
Skip Bafalis passed away on March 10, 2023, in Fairfax Station, Virginia, at the age of 93.
