What Makes Slick Rock Falls Special?
Slick Rock Falls gets its water from Slick Rock Creek. The water flows over a rocky cliff that hangs out, creating the waterfall. Sometimes, if there hasn't been much rain, the waterfall might slow down to just a small trickle.
Why Is It Called Slick Rock Falls?
The waterfall gets its name from the very smooth, or "slick," rocks found at the top and bottom of the falls. Long ago, before this area became part of the Pisgah National Forest, a path for cattle crossed Slick Rock Creek near the top of the falls. Sometimes, a cow might accidentally slip and go over the falls because of these slick rocks!
