Smithfield is a town located in Somerset County, Maine, in the United States. In 2020, about 925 people lived here.
Smithfield became an official town on February 29, 1840. This is special because it's the only town in Maine that was made official on a Leap Day! The town got its name from an early settler, Reverend Henry Smith.
