Soccer City is a large sports stadium located in Johannesburg, South Africa. It was first built in 1987 and was originally known as the FNB Stadium.

Stadium Improvements
In 2009, the stadium got a big makeover. Workers added more seats, making it even bigger. They also built new locker rooms for players and installed bright new floodlights. These changes helped prepare the stadium for major events.
Hosting the FIFA World Cup
Soccer City was a very important place during the 2010 FIFA World Cup. It was one of the ten stadiums in South Africa where World Cup games were played. Many exciting matches happened here, including the final game!

Nelson Mandela Memorial
On December 5, 2013, Nelson Mandela, a very important leader in South Africa, passed away. A large memorial service was held for him at Soccer City. This event brought many people together to remember his life and work.
Stadium Use Today
After the World Cup, Soccer City (also known as FNB Stadium) is still very busy. It often hosts big concerts with famous musicians. It's also used for smaller soccer tournaments. When the popular South African soccer team, the Kaizer Chiefs, plays there, about 15,000 fans come to watch.
