Somosierra is a small town in Spain. It is located in the Community of Madrid, about 83 kilometers (51 miles) north of the capital city, Madrid.
This town is special because it sits high up in the mountains. It's in a mountain pass at an elevation of 1433 metres above sea level. This makes Somosierra the northernmost town in the Community of Madrid.

Train History
A train line used to pass through this area. It was the Madrid to Burgos line. There was even a train station called Robregordo-Somosierra. However, this station did not serve Somosierra directly. Since 2011, trains no longer use this route. This is because of a landslide that happened in the Somosierra tunnel.
