Songül Öden (born in Diyarbakır, Turkey, on February 17, 1979) is a famous Turkish actress. She is known for her amazing roles in TV shows like Gümüş, Umutsuz Ev Kadınları, "Şeref Bey", and Uysallar. Songül is from the Zaza people.

About Songül Öden's Life and Career

Songül Öden grew up and went to school in Ankara, a big city in Turkey. When she was in high school, she joined the Ankara Arts Theatre. Later, she studied theatre at Ankara University.

After finishing her studies, Songül moved to Istanbul. There, she started working in TV shows and plays.

Early TV Roles

Songül began acting on TV in 1999 with a show called Ferhunde Hanımlar. She then appeared in several other TV series. One of her early important roles was in Havada Bulut in 2002.

Becoming Famous with Gümüş

In 2005, Songül got a leading role in the TV drama Gümüş. She played the character Gümüş Şadoğlu alongside actor Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ. This show became incredibly popular! It ran for two and a half years.

Gümüş was a huge hit not just in Turkey, but also across the Middle East and the Balkans. Because of its success, Songül and Kıvanç Tatlıtuğ received an honorary award at the Muscat Film Festival. Songül was also a special guest at the Cairo Film Festival.

Songül Öden has also acted in movies. In 2009, she starred in Acı Aşk (which means "Bitter Love"). She also appeared in 72. Koğuş in 2011.

In 2011, Songül returned to TV with Umutsuz Ev Kadınları. This show was based on the American series Desperate Housewives. She also had a main role in "Bir Aile Hikayesi," which was an adaptation of the show This is Us. More recently, she worked with Haluk Bilginer in the series "Şeref Bey" and "Uysallar."

Songül Öden cares about important issues. She has been part of projects in the Middle East that speak out against harm to women and children. In 2009, she was named a Culture and Peace Envoy in Bulgaria. This means she helps promote peace and understanding through culture.
