Sonya Eddy (born June 17, 1967 – died December 19, 2022) was a talented American actress. She was known for her many roles in TV shows and movies, especially for playing Nurse Epiphany Johnson on the popular soap opera General Hospital.

Sonya Eddy was born in Concord, California, on June 17, 1967. She loved acting and dancing from a young age. She studied theatre and dance at the University of California, Davis. In 1992, she earned her college degree in these subjects.
Sonya Eddy's Acting Career
Sonya Eddy started her acting journey on stage in 1990. Her first play was Zora Is My Name, written by Ruby Dee. She also performed in other famous plays like The Comedy of Errors, Into the Woods, and South Pacific.
Later, Sonya moved to Los Angeles to act in television shows. She appeared in many popular sitcoms. Some of these included Married... with Children, The Drew Carey Show, Murphy Brown, Seinfeld, and Home Improvement.
From 2004 to 2005, she had a regular role on the show Joan of Arcadia. In 2006, Sonya began playing Epiphany Johnson on General Hospital. This became her most famous role, and she played the character for many years. She was also a main cast member on the spin-off show, General Hospital: Night Shift, from 2007 to 2008. From 2016 to 2019, she played Tammy in the comedy series Those Who Can't.
Her Passing
Sonya Eddy passed away on December 19, 2022, when she was 55 years old. She died due to an infection that happened after a surgery.
