His Journey in Mathematics
Sourav Chatterjee started his higher education in India. He earned both his Bachelor's and Master's degrees in Statistics. He studied at the Indian Statistical Institute in Kolkata.
Later, he moved to the United States for his advanced studies. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2005. His teacher there was a famous mathematician named Persi Diaconis.
Working at Top Universities
After getting his Ph.D., Chatterjee began his teaching career. He first worked at the University of California, Berkeley. He started as a visiting assistant professor. Soon, he became a full-time assistant professor in 2006.
By 2009, he was an associate professor at Berkeley. Later that year, he moved to New York University. He joined the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. In 2013, he returned to Stanford University. He is now a full professor there. He teaches in both the Mathematics and Statistics departments.
