Where Does the River Flow?
The South Branch Meduxnekeag River starts at Johnson Pond in a town called Linneus. From there, it flows for about 5.8 miles (9.3 kilometers) toward Cary.
Journey Through Wildlife Areas
After passing Cary, the river enters the Lt. Gordon Manuel Wildlife Management Area. This area is in Hodgdon. Wildlife management areas help protect animals and their homes.
Meeting Another River
The river then turns north and flows for about 9.4 miles (15.1 kilometers). It finally joins with the main Meduxnekeag River at a place called Carys Mills. This meeting point is about two miles upstream from the town of Houlton.
