Hodgdon is a small, rural town in Aroostook County, Maine, in the United States. It is located right on the border with New Brunswick, Canada, to the east. The town of Houlton is just to the north. In 2020, about 1,290 people lived in Hodgdon.

History of Hodgdon
Hodgdon officially became a town in 1821. It was named after John Hodgdon, who was one of the first landowners there. He originally came from Weare, New Hampshire. Many of the first people to settle in Hodgdon were Scotch-Irish immigrants from Northern Ireland.
Hodgdon is in the southern part of Aroostook County, close to the Canadian border. A large part of the Lt. Gordon Manuel Wildlife Management Area is found in the southwestern part of the town. This area is near the South Branch of the Meduxnekeag River. It's a special place for wildlife.

Education in Hodgdon
Hodgdon is part of Maine School Administrative District #70. This school district also includes students from nearby towns like Amity, Haynesville, Linneus, Ludlow, and New Limerick.
The Hodgdon Middle/High School was built in 1938 during the time of the Great Depression. It was recently updated and renovated in 2016.
The sports teams at Hodgdon High School are called the "Hodgdon Hawks." They are part of the Maine Principals' Association. The Hawks compete in many sports, including Baseball, Basketball, Cross Country, Football, Golf, Ice Hockey, Soccer, Softball, and Track and Field. The school has won five state championships in basketball (in 1979, 1980, 1995, 1996, and 2014). Hodgdon High School has friendly rivalries with Houlton Jr/Sr High School, Greater Houlton Christian Academy, and Southern Aroostook Community School.
