Village History

South Greenfield has an interesting past. It was first founded in 1881. Back then, it was called Watkins. This was when the railroad line was built to reach this area.

A post office was also set up in Watkins in 1881. Later, in 1891, the name of the village was officially changed to South Greenfield.

The Dilday Mill was an important historical building in the area. It was once listed on the National Register of Historic Places, which means it was recognized for its special historical value.
