South Mountain is a small town in Coryell County, Texas, United States. In 2010, about 384 people lived there. It is part of a larger area that includes the cities of Killeen and Temple, and also Fort Hood. This larger area is known as the Killeen-Temple-Fort Hood Metropolitan Statistical Area.
Where is South Mountain?
South Mountain is located along U.S. Route 84. This is a major road that runs through the area.
The town is about 4 miles (6.4 km) east of Gatesville. Gatesville is the main city in Coryell County. South Mountain is also about 16 miles (26 km) west of McGregor.
The United States Census Bureau says that South Mountain covers a total area of about 1.6 square miles (4.2 square kilometers). All of this area is land, with no large bodies of water.
