The Speaker of the National Assembly of Azerbaijan Republic (Azerbaijani: Azərbaycan Respublikası Milli Məclisinin Spikeri) is a very important leader in the Azerbaijani Parliament. This person is also known as the Chairman of the National Assembly (Azerbaijani: Milli Məclisinin Sədri). Their main job is to lead the meetings and make sure everything runs smoothly in the parliament.
The current Speaker is Sahiba Gafarova. She started this role on March 10, 2020.

What Does the Speaker Do?
The Speaker helps the parliament make new laws and decisions for the country. They are like the referee of a game, making sure everyone follows the rules during debates. They also represent the parliament when meeting with leaders from other countries.
Who Takes Over if the President Can't?
In Azerbaijan, if the President cannot do their job, there is a special order of who takes over next. First, it would be the Vice President of Azerbaijan. If they also cannot, then the Prime Minister of Azerbaijan steps in. If neither of them can, then the Speaker of the National Assembly is next in line to take on the President's duties. This shows how important the Speaker's role is!
