The speckled coral snake, also known as the small-spotted coral snake, is a type of venomous snake. It is found only in Southeast Asia. This snake belongs to a group called elapids, which are known for their strong venom. There are five different types, or subspecies, of the speckled coral snake.

Where Speckled Coral Snakes Live

The speckled coral snake, known scientifically as C. maculiceps, lives in several countries in Southeast Asia. You can find these snakes in places like Myanmar, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. They are native to these areas, meaning they naturally live there.

Different Types of Speckled Coral Snakes

Scientists have identified five different types, or subspecies, of the speckled coral snake. Each subspecies has slight differences, but they are all part of the same main species. These are the recognized subspecies:
