Spyro: Year of the Dragon is an exciting platform game created by Insomniac Games. It was released by Sony Computer Entertainment for the PlayStation console in 2000. This game is the third adventure in the popular Spyro series.

This was the last Spyro game made by Insomniac Games. After this, they went on to create the well-known Ratchet and Clank series for the PlayStation 2. Spyro: Year of the Dragon came out in North America in October 2000 and in Europe in November 2000.

The game is named after the animal in the Chinese Zodiac, which was the symbol for the year it was released. In the game, you play as a brave purple dragon named Spyro. He travels to special places called the "Forgotten Worlds." His mission is to get back 150 magical dragon eggs that were stolen by an evil sorceress.

Players explore more than thirty different worlds. In these worlds, you collect shiny gems and find the stolen dragon eggs. Year of the Dragon also brought new friends and fun mini-games to the series. It also had better graphics and music than the previous games.

The game was very successful, selling over two million copies in the United States. Many reviewers praised the game. They liked how it improved on the earlier Spyro games by adding new activities and many different environments to explore.

Later, this game was remade as part of the Spyro Reignited Trilogy.
